Q. What does the Ad Council do?
A. The Ad Council is the leading volunteer provider of marketing communications services dedicated to improving the quality of life in the greater Rochester area. Through active partnerships with nonprofits and businesses, we create results-oriented, public service campaigns that focus on community needs. We also offer professional training programs and coaching/mentoring services.


Q. Who does the Ad Council support?
A. The Ad Council provides project support to nonprofit organizations that are 501(C)3 incorporated and community initiatives or collaboratives in the greater Rochester, NY area. See our Services for Non-Profits section for more information.


Q. What programs does the Ad Council offer?
A. The Ad Council offers seven different programs: Strategic Roundtables, Project Support ,Ad Council Academy of Rochester, Communications Audit, Brand Development, Marketing & Communications Planning Support, and On-Site Training.


Q. How can my organization receive Ad Council support?
A. You can access the application for support on the web site. Also on this site is information on how to request a Strategic Roundtable and how to join the Ad Council Academy of Rochester.


Q. What does being a "member" of the Ad Council mean?
A. "Members" are businesses, foundations and individuals that partner with the Advertising Council by giving gifts of $500 or more each year to support our work in the community. These companies receive voting representation in the organization and recognition in annual advertising. They also receive reduced rates and advance registration to Advertising Council events.


Q. How can I get involved in the Ad Council as a volunteer?
A. To become an Ad Council volunteer you must complete a volunteer application. Volunteers must have a minimum of two years professional experience in marketing/communications. Expertise in many areas is needed, including account management, photography, graphic design, strategic planning, etc.


Q. Can the Ad Council help find me a job?
A. Because of the nature of our work, we partner with many of the marketing/communications firms in the Greater Rochester area. We do not, however, make employment matches.  We do have job postings listed on our website.


Q. How is the Ad Council supported?
A. The Ad Council receives funding from local corporations, private foundations and annual special events. Our major contributions come in the form of volunteers. For every $1 dollar donated, the Advertising Council garners $10 in volunteer support or $2 million annually.


Q. Does the Ad Council sponsor the ADDYs?
A. No. The ADDYs are sponsored by the Rochester Advertising Federation.


Q. Is the Ad Council a professional membership group?
A. No. We are a community service nonprofit. However, many of our volunteers belong to a variety of professional organizations.


Q. Does the Ad Council have a job bank program?
A. No. Through our networking, we do become aware of a variety of opportunities, however, we do not offer a job bank program.


Q. I need an ad agency. Who should I call?
A. That depends on the type and level of help you're seeking. Check out links to our many member agencies to learn what agency will best meet your needs.


Q. We're planning a fundraiser. Can the Ad Council help?
A. No, we don't support any development or fundraising campaigns (capital, endowment, annual or special event).


Q. We need a brochure. Can the Ad Council help?
A. Maybe, however, our work with our partners is much broader based. Before we engage in any tactical implementation, we work with our partners to develop a comprehensive, integrated plan.


Q. Can the Ad Council help us secure media time and space for our ads?
A. No, we do not fulfill requests focusing on media support only.


Q. Does the Ad Council offer student internships?
A. No.


Q. Are you affiliated with the national Ad Council?
A. No.
